With one game of the season remaining Roland Nilsson was sacked and former City players, and Cup winners Steve Ogrizovic and Trevor Peake, stepped up from their coaching roles and took charge of the final game of the season, a 0-2 defeat at Burnley. Gary McAllister was appointed boss a few days later.
