Final positions: Halifax Town 18th | Coventry City 14th (24)

City finish on a winning note – the first time for seven years. It is top referee Reg Leafe’s final game, and he has an easy ride as City weather Halifax’s brief flurries. Holder makes both goals, a Farmer ground shot and Dwight’s from a narrow angle. Brian Hill converted to a wing-half.
