Billy Frith signed the journeyman striker from Luton Town in the 1961 close season and the tall forward made an impressive debut inspiring the team to a 3-0 win over Newport. He scored 12 goals in 18 games including six in Jimmy Hill’s first six games in charge but lost his place. In April 1962 he joined non-league Cambridge United and later played for Stevenage and Dunstable. He settled in the Luton area and is the father of England striker Kerry Dixon.
