Peter signed for City in the summer of 1965 after starring for GEC in local football. A talented goalkeeper, he was a regular for the reserves in 1965-66 season but was allowed to go on loan to Waterford in Ireland the following summer. After 13 games he was back at Highfield Road  and thrown into a league debut against Cardiff owing to an injury to Bill Glazier. That would be Peter’s only competitive game for the Sky Blues and at the end of the promotion season he was allowed to join Waterford on a permanent basis. He was a great success in Ireland winning five league championship medals and one Cup winners medal as well as 12 European appearances and two Eire caps.
