Local lad Stan played for City during the Second World War, making his debut at Villa Park in 1942. A full-back spotted playing for Herberts Athletic who could play on either flank, he played 18 games in the transitional season of 1945-46 but when league football re-commenced he was only a fringe player behind Lol Coen and Charlie Elliott and made only four appearances without appearing on the losing side. He was released in 1948 and played in local football.
