Carr arrived at Coventry as a first team coach when the coaching setup was restructured following the departure of Adi Viveash. He had several previous coaching roles – most notably at Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers as a development coach. He stepped into the interim Head Coach role when Mark Robins was relieved of his duties and steadied the ship whilst most people were in shock. Left the club on 30 January 2025 as Frank Lampard finalised his coaching team.
