Caretaker Manager 26th August 2012 – 19th September 2012
Having played over 300 games for City, Shaw returned to the club when he left Millwall to take the assistant manager’s position working under his former Crystal Palace teammate Andy Thorn. After the club drew their opening three games of the League One season, Thorn was sacked and Shaw was appointed caretaker manager, working alongside first-team coach Lee Carsley.
Shaw won his first game, a League Cup tie with Birmingham, and then was in charge for four league games, all losses; Stevenage H, Crewe A, Tranmere A and Shrewsbury A, before the appointment of Mark Robins.
