Louis Carey
Peter Reid signed the long-serving Bristol City full-back on a free transfer in July 2004. It was a disastrous move for the versatile defender who never looked comfortable in a City shirt and soon after Reid’s departure in January 2005 the homesick Carey returned to Ashton Gate. His subsequent form was outstanding and he was a major force, as a central defender, in Bristol’s promotion to the championship in 2006, as well as helping knock the Sky Blues out of the FA Cup. He captained Bristol City on his return and made well over 500 appearances for them in his two spells.
