Martin was one of several impressive loan signings made by Eric Black in the spring of 2004. The experienced Birmingham City left-back had been out of action for a year but quickly settled in at Highfield Road with good positional play and impressive distribution. Unfortunately an injury crisis at St Andrews cut short his loan period and City’s play-off dreams ended. The luckless defender suffered a serious knee injury soon afterwards and his career was over.
