Steve Jacobs
Steve was the midfield workhorse in an excellent City youth side that included Danny Thomas and Mark Hateley. In an era when the club had to rely heavily on home-grown players because of financial constraints Steve made it through to the first team under Dave Sexton and earned a reputation for his strong tackling and was twice sent off in City colours (at Everton and Brighton). A 100% player who could play in the defensive midfield role or in central defence, he lost his place to Trevor Peake in 1983. He joined Brighton the following year before short spells with Charlton and Gillingham. Steve later worked as an electrician in East London.
