Bryn was a Welsh born inside forward who had played for all three South Wales league clubs prior to joining City from Reading in February 1950. The blond haired Allen had, like many of his contemporaries, lost the best years of his career to the war and didn't make his full league debut until the age of 25. His impact at Highfield Road was immediate, he scored 8 goals in 16 games and helped City pull out of a relegation nosedive. The following season his form in City's promotion challenging team earned him two full Welsh caps. At City his goals dried up and he was in the side relegated in 1952. He lost his place to Eddy Brown and was sold to Hereford United later playing for Barry Town and Haverfordwest. He lived in South Wales until his death in 2005.
