Signed by Gordon Strachan from Doncaster Rovers at the age of 16 after just three appearances for the Yorkshire club, the combative midfielder was a member of two FA Youth Cup final losing teams with the Sky Blues. He made three sub appearances in the Premier League and was given several games after relegation but did nothing to suggest he was of a high enough quality for a regular place. After loan spells at Plymouth and Lincoln he was released in 2003 and became a football nomad with Kidderminster, Hereford and Rochdale. Subsequently went semi-professional and played for Racing Warwick, Forest Green Rovers and Quorn.
Robert is the grandson of former City and Manchester United defender Maurice Setters.
