A left-winger signed by Harry Storer after the sale of Norman Lockhart in September 1952. Eric had impressed for Cheshire League side Winsford United and had an excellent first season. His form slipped in his second season however and with stiff competition from first Jimmy Hill, then later Ray Sambrook, he was never a regular. A switch to the right-wing gave him a new lease of life in 1956 but in the summer of 1957 he was released and joined Torquay United where he had two good seasons.
