Iain started his career in the North of Scotland just after the war with Aberdeen and Peterhead. Whilst doing his National Service in the army he was spotted playing for Oswestry Town by City’s scouts. His release was obtained from Aberdeen and he joined City. A strong tackling and speedy wing-half, Jamieson was understudy to Don Dorman and Bryn Allen but established hilself in the first team in the1953-54 season.

He later combined playing with a business career at Courtaulds and on leaving City he became a director of the company and continued playing for Rugby Town. Iain joined the City board in 1973 and in 1983 became chairman following Jimmy Hill’s departure. He was responsible for sacking Dave Sexton, recruiting Bobby Gould and in his one year in office there was a great emphasis on getting the clubs closer to the fans and the people of Coventry than in the previous period. Iain married Harry Storer’s daughter and is believed to have moved back to the Aberdeen area.
