Morten Hyldgaard
Gordon Strachan paid Ikast £200,000 for the Danish under 21 goalkeeper in 1999 and he was third choice behind Hedman and Kirkland, spending a short spell with Scunthorpe in 2000. After Hedman’s departure in 2002 Morten started the season as first choice and the 6 foot 6 inch custodian did reasonably well. He saw off the challenge of Fabien Debec but in March 2003 with the club in serious financial difficulties someone realised that if he made any more appearances for City then more money would be due to his former club. Short spells at Hibernian and Luton preceded a return to Denmark with top flight club Aarhus.
