Gary McAllister signed the experienced defender who earned his reputation at first Crystal Palace and later Middlesbrough on a free transfer in the summer of 2002. The former England under 21 international was a regular in his first season but rarely set the world alight. In his second season he was out in the cold and went on loan to Reading before being freed in 2004. A brief spell at Grimsby was followed by a successful time in Cyprus with Apoel Nicosia. He played for various non league teams on his return to England.
