After being released by Leicester where he was an apprentice he scored 131 goals in three seasons at Nuneaton Borough and was top scorer in the Conference two successive seasons as well as playing for England’s Semi-professional team. His scoring record persuaded Don Mackay to pay £50,000 (a record for a non-league player) for the tall striker. He scored at Villa Park on his full City debut but got few opportunities at Highfield Road despite heavy scoring in the reserves. In October 1987 he moved to Northampton for £55,000 and had two good years for the Cobblers. He later played for Peterborough, Barnet and Hereford before returning to Nuneaton. Where in 1992-93 he was second top scorer in the Southern League. Still lives in Nuneaton.
