Danny Shea
England international Danny Shea, was a well respected inside forward who was noted for his dribbling and close ball work, combined with a canny knack to be in the right place to score goals.
He scored 122 goals in 222 games for Southern League West Ham and his £2000 transfer to Blackburn was a record for December 1912. He helped Rovers to the League Championship in 1914, scoring 29 goals. He appeared once for Celtic before re-signing for West Ham, but for only a short stay. He was 35 when City signed him from Fulham and what little pace he originally had, was gone. He made up for this however, with his knowledge of the game. With City staring relegation in the face, Shea moved to Clapton Orient.
After his football retirement, he worked in the London docks.
