Shone made an immediate impression as a professional, scoring 6 goals in 15 games, as Liverpool won the League Championship in 1921-22. He was in and out of the side bout was an ever-present in 1924-25, making his final appearance for The Reds in December 1925. Shone's career was resurrected by West Ham, before moving to City in The New Year of 1929. He didn't particularly impress in a poor side and soon faded out of the professional game.
