Welshman Bill Richards began with his local side Merthyr, and was signed by Wolves after only one League appearance. He played well at Molineux, but it wasn't until he arrived at Highfield Road that he produced his exciting football. Under James Mcintyre, City were starting to move out of their "Stormy Period" and Richards' skills on the right wing played a big part. The sacking of McIntyre in February 1931, heralded considerable changes on the pitch. Richards was not part of Harry Storer's plans and McIntyre swooped for his former player and took him back to Fulham. He helped Fulham to promotion to Division 2 and earned his only full cap in Wales' 4-1 victory over Ireland in December 1932.
