A wing half signed by Billy Frith from Wolves in 1947, he failed to win a regular place because of the exceptional form of Jack Snape and Noel Simpson. Ironically he had left Wolves because he was a reserve to the legendary Billy Wright. Jim suffered with injuries at Highfield Road and joined Darlaston when he was released in 1953. Played war-time football as a guest for Notts County and Chester.
