A talented Scottish ball-playing schemer whose best years in the game were before the war in Scotland and with Arsenal. He joined Coventry in 1937 in the part-exchange deal that took City’s star man Les Jones to Highbury but rarely achieved his potential at Coventry. During the war he was a guest player for several clubs including Notts County and Halifax. After the war he struggled for pace and played only four games before becoming player-manager at Hinckley Athletic and held similar posts at Redditch and Rugby Town.
