Harry Storer was never satisfied with the wingers that he bought for City and he chopped and changed to get a combination he could be happy with. He paid over £2,000 for the highly experienced Taylor, who had made 265 League appearances for Notts County and 170 league and Cup appearances for Bolton. He was an almost ever-present for three seasons in Division 1 before signing for City. He played on both flanks, but preferred to play on the right side. He continued to play until 1943.
