After failing to make the grade at Sheffield United, Armeson appeared twice for his home town club Rotherham United, before being signed by Harry Storer in April 1936. With City having a strong squad, he only played when Harry Boileau was injured. During the war, he guested for Northampton Town, Chester, Barnsley, West Ham United, Hull City and Mansfield Town, and retired from football in 1945.
