McNab was signed from Fulham in the summer of 1930, to give an experienced backbone to City's side. He had fine credentials, playing 169 games for Fulham in 5 seasons and scoring 21 goals from the centre half position. The fee was £500, a considerable sum for a 32 year old and McNab was to take over from the well respected Norman Dins-dale. Unfortunately, McNab had a dreadful debut against Notts County and was dropped. He never regained his place except at a time of injury and was released.
