Local lad Jack Townsend was signed by James Kerr after a remarkable improvement in his form at Nuneaton Town. He was a quick left winger who could cross well and in his first few games showed he was as hard as nails and as keen as mustard. He was in and out of the side, but lost out to the pay and experienced Billy Pick. He then played or a number of local sides.
