Jock Lauderdale was an excellent fetch-and-carry inside right who was able to provide great service for Clarrie Bourton and score his fair share of goals.

He had been bought from First Division Blackpool and established a magnificent partnership with Bourton. He was loved by City fans and the City board were determined to hold on to him, which paid off as City gained promotion to Division 2. He only played 5 Division 2 games before losing his place to Bill McDonald and moved to Northampton.

He continued to live in Coventry and returned to the area when he signed for Nuneaton in the summer of 1939. During the war, he guested 9 times for City.
