Webb was attracted to Harry Storer because of his versatility. He made 7 appearances for Fulham and 70 for Exeter City, in the right wing, wing half and right back positions.

In his season at Highfield Road Webb played at both right and left back positions and was always on the winning side. With the arrival of Jack Astley, Webb was sold to Newport County, for whom he played 54 League games. In the season before the outbreak of war, he made a single appearances for Bristol Rovers.
