Local boy Owen came to City via a number of clubs. He made his First Division debut for Birmingham as a 20 year old, after impressing for Nuneaton Town.

After playing 5 games for The Blues, he failed to regain his place and moved to Fulham, but in his 12 months at Craven Cottage, he didn't appear for the first team. After joining City, Owen was given his chance following a series of impressive reserve performances. City wanted Owen to re-sign for the club, but he rejected terms. He couldn't find a League team to join and was snapped up by Stourbridge.
